Let each woman stand up for herself

By Julia Matthew | Managing Director

Dear Patron,

In India, women's empowerment is a crucial issue that encompasses various social, economic, and political aspects. The country has made significant strides in addressing gender inequality and promoting women's empowerment, but there are still challenges that need to be overcome. Women encounter differentiation in most sectors like education, economic opportunities, health and medical assistance, and political participation, which demonstrates that there are substantial gaps. Economic inequality, limited access to education, and violence and discrimination against women continue to be major obstacles to women's empowerment in India.

Seeing the state of the underprivileged women in our state, we at El Shaddai have opened shelters, community centers and Homes for women. They are enrolled in various programs like educational and vocational trainings in tailoring, mehendi, crochet, etc. Through these programs, underprivileged women are allowed to access education, which empowers them to break free from generational poverty and contribute to their families and communities. Many such women have been able to change their lives for the betterment by using these skills and creating jobs not just for themselves but for others too. El shaddai has helped empower 36,456 women and 5,000 women have acquired employment opportunities.

We have many inspiring stories of brave women who stood up against all odds and won their battles.

One such wonderful lady is a woman named Shaina (name changed). She was in an abusive relationship and no matter how hard she tried, she just could not get out of it. Her husband was an alcoholic and also unemployed. Financial problems were increasing rapidly, she was even on the verge of ending her life. But then she thought of her children and decided to do something in her life. She found hope in one of our community shelters at Vasco. There she discovered that she was interested in the tailoring course and her fondness for learning new things grew. She learned to make beautiful designs of embroidery too. In few months she excelled in her work and took up a small shop near her home. People just loved her designs and kept flocking to her shop. The day she had saved up enough money she took the bold step of walking out of her marriage along with her two children. She is very happy now and so are the children.

El Shaddai aims to inspire, educate, and empower all such women and give them the anchor of help.

We can help and reach out to all such women and many others through your help and support towards the work we do. Your sponsorship not only provides us with the necessary financial means but also serves as a testament to your commitment to social responsibility and making a difference. We deeply appreciate your trust in our organization and the work we do.

We express our heartfelt gratitude to you all.

Sincerely

El Shaddai family
