Dear Friend,
Underprivileged women in Goa face numerous challenges, including economic instability, lack of access to education, and limited healthcare facilities. Many of these women come from marginalized communities and struggle to achieve financial independence and social empowerment.
El Shaddai provides integrative learning in design, tailoring, and computer skills, focusing on marginalized homemakers and young girls.
The plight of underprivileged women in Goa highlights the need for continued support and intervention. We work to transform the lives of these women through vocational training programs. These initiatives aim to equip women with skills that can help them secure employment or start their businesses, thereby fostering economic self-reliance.
With your support, we help 235 women feel empowered every year. We have a beautiful transformation story of a girl named Savitri (named changed).
She lived in the slums of Goa with her family of six members. There was no food, no proper housing and no proper job. When she grew up the challenges intensified. With limited education and job opportunities, she found herself trapped in a cycle of poverty. The lack of access to resources and support systems made it difficult for her to envision a better future. Additionally, societal norms often placed women in subordinate roles, further limiting their opportunities for empowerment.
One day she came across our outreach workers who advised her to join our empowerment programs. At first, she was hesitant for she did not have prior knowledge but when she saw the encouragement and love offered at our community centres she was overjoyed. She learnt the art of Mehendi. Her lovely designs were appreciated by all and she was encouraged to take this up as a profession. She was so good with her work that she started getting offers for weddings and other functions.
She is very happy now, for she is finally independent and can provide for her family. There are many women like these and through vocational training, social services, and community involvement, there is hope for these women to overcome their challenges and lead empowered lives.
Your support enables us to continue our mission to help such women and make a significant impact in our community. We truly appreciate your kindness and commitment to our cause.
With gratitude
El Shaddai family!
