This program will begin with trainings for women who live in the northern villages of Shirak province. The trainings will focus on entrepreneurship, social media, business, and product advertising. We will revive forgotten Armenian cuisine and provide the participants with a platform to not only advertise the rural products but also to gain financial independence. This will showcase the stories of women struggling against difficulties and finding inspirational solutions around Gyumri.
The problem for most of the women begins when early marriages and rural lifestyles force them to start a complicated life deprived of achieving social and economic security. A majority of girls see themselves as household workers, rather than individuals who can make a change, or at least are smart enough to take the initiative to improve their own lives. Men leave to find work, and in most cases stay for good. Thus, women have to find ways to feed their children.
