Help 2000 tribal families fight hunger, Rajasthan

By Sumedha Sharma | Project Leader

Dear Global Givers,

Thank you for your commitment to supporting iPartner India’s campaign to help tribal families to fight hunger. We are thrilled to have your support. Through offline and online donations, we have been able to support over 400 families and continue working towards making these families self-reliant by helping them grow their own food.

Through this campaign, we have provided various vegetable seeds, such as spinach, carrot, coriander, peas, and radish to over 440 families with the support of both online and offline donations. We are happy to report that each family was able to save up to $8-$10 per month during the winter season. They have now completed one year of the cropping cycle and from the next season onwards these families will be able to sow their own seeds that have been preserved from the earlier season. iPartner India will identify more families in the next cycle to be part of this initiative. The kitchen gardens have not just been helpful for self-consumption but have also enabled these families to share the surplus produce with other families in their villages. Many families still continue to find stable income and having to grow their own food has helped them in many ways.

The campaign has provided the following benefits to the families:

  1. Reduced expenses for purchasing vegetables from the market
  2. Increased nutritional value by consuming their own homegrown produce
  3. Increased immunity by adding green leafy vegetables for children
  4. Household savings have increased and which in turn has led to an increase in investment
    in education.

Meena's Story

Meena (name changed) lives in Kacholiya village. Being part of this campaign, she was able to grow spinach, carrot, and radish in her backyard. In one month, she managed to save Rs.1,750. She produced up to 55 kilograms of various vegetables in one month’s time. Untimely rain in January in Rajasthan affected her cultivation. Meena also attends training and workshops to have a better understanding of growing seasonal vegetables so that she can increase her produce.

“I am happy that I can grow my own vegetables to feed my family and save some money to buy other essentials like milk, oil, and sugar. Thank you for providing the seeds to me. I hope this year my produce will increase.” – Meena

Together we are making a difference. Your support to our campaign is deeply gratifying to us, and we hope it is the same for you. We hope that you will continue to partner with us in our commitment to fight hunger.

With deep gratitude,
Team iPartner India
