Summary

In Haiti, involving women in construction is crucial for fostering gender equality, diversifying skills, and promoting empowerment. Encouraging their participation not only broadens the talent pool but also sparks innovation, leading to a more inclusive society. Women in construction act as catalysts for economic growth, creating opportunities for skill development and job creation, ultimately contributing to a resilient and sustainable industry that benefits the entire nation.

Challenge

The barriers for women to enter the construction industry in Haiti are high, starting with access to high-quality training. Not only this but these barriers also create greater inequality for those women who are already working in the construction industry. By gaining high-quality training that also comes with a high degree of credibility, women can establish themselves as leaders in the construction industry.

Solution

By lowering these barriers to construction training, more women will gain access to jobs that pay better than minimum wage, along with the potential for upward mobility in the industry. Additionally, as we work with these women in our Alumni Association, these women will help inspire more women to pursue profitable careers in construction.

Long-Term Impact

When women and girls see themselves represented in construction roles, it breaks down gender stereotypes and encourages them to pursue a career in a field that has ongoing demand for skilled labor. Seeing more women in construction can inspire and empower younger generations to pursue careers in this field, creating a more diverse and sustainable industry over the long term.
