The Puerto Rico Community Foundation (Fundacion Comunitaria de Puerto Rico) joins Giving Tuesday 2019 to support the Algarrobo Community Aqueduct Inc., in Aibonito, to raise $7,316.86 to facilitate access to drinking water for seven (7) families. This women lead community aqueduct provides access to water to more than 70 families (250 individuals) in the isolated rural community of Algarrobo, Aibonito-Puerto Rico.
Due to the distance between houses and their location in relation to the infrastructure of the community aqueduct, there are seven (7) families in the community that are not connected to the Algarrobo Community Aqueduct Inc., in Aibonito, so they have no access to drinking water. These families depend on the water they collect from three (3) nearby springs, which are untreated waters, not suitable for consumption. The water flows with low pressure and the water system is unstable.
With your donation, we can help these seven (7) families have better health and better quality of life by connecting their homes to the Algarrobo community aqueduct in Aibonito.
With this project, the family will have potable water and a stable water system.
