Most of the area to be restored has lost its original mangrove forest and has been occupied by other species, the majority of which is a very dominant bush in the area called rib of the devil, which has established itself in areas where mangrove forest has been lost. mangrove, covering the soil and tree species of mangrove preventing the natural regeneration of the site, so before planting it is necessary to clean removing these bushes, weeds have been cleaned in 0.6 hectares, this work has been done manually with the help of machetes and rakes, to leave the soil clean for mangrove planting.

The planting of mangrove seedlings has begun, which have been developed in nurseries, this work has been carried out with volunteers and companies which visit Barra de Santiago with the aim of contributing to the restoration of the Mangrove Forest, until now 300 mangrove seedlings have been planted.

The Waterways that have been worked have allowed many species to use them for their movement, among which we have seen are fish, shrimp larvae, alligators and otters and waterfowl, which indicates the richness of biodiversity that the site is.
