We continue working in the areas of the mangrove forest that have been lost over the years, in Barra de Santiago in western El Salvador, this initiative is led by Community Women who make up the AMBAS association, who from the first hours in the morning they travel to the restoration site on their Bicycles, very happy for the work they have the opportunity to do for the environment and for the temporary employment that this project has generated for them.
Among the activities that are being carried out is the cleaning of weeds which have covered the site after the forest cover was lost, they are cleaning the canals which became silted due to the heavy rains that have occurred during the month of June, Campaigns are being carried out to collect plastics that are dragged by rivers from the upper and middle basin, around 1,500 mangrove plants have been planted in the areas that have been cleaned.
Recovering this site is of vital importance since these are places where people from nearby communities supply themselves with food (fish, shrimp and crabs), obtain construction materials (wood), and are home to many species of fauna which are is threatened or in danger of extinction.
