Challenge

A study by CMIE shows that in 2018, out of the 11 million job losses, 8.8 million were of women. After the Ebola outbreak was contained in West Africa, it was shown that men's income returned to pre-outbreak levels while the women's income did not. The most affected are the women who work in the informal sector (housemaids, construction workers etc), women who don't have steady access to the internet, but if supported and encouraged would bring a lot of value to work.

Solution

The project aims at creating a wide community of women in the low and middle-income groups who will receive support every step of the way to meet their predefined employment and financial goals. The project aims to support women in suburban and rural areas (either personally, through the network, references, or majorly through tie-ups with local NGOs) and perform skill and aspiration analysis, map each woman with a career coach, and more such steps to foster gainful employment opportunities.

Long-Term Impact

Development of a scalable, sustainable model for 'Women Work Wonders' to be implemented in the sub-urban and rural pockets. "Trainee to trainer transition": A sustainable local network of Abogado women ready to scale impact and impart training to enable more women in the community. Development of an online-offline hybrid of a stronger, financially sustainable, and close-knit network of skilled rural and suburban women from low and middle-income groups.
