This project drives economic independence for 40 vulnerable, rural women in Tajikistan by funding official driver's license courses and securing immediate employment with local taxi networks. We bridge the regional gender employment gap by providing professional vocational training. Furthermore, we actively secure grants and low-interest loans to help these women transition into green vehicle ownership, establishing long-term financial agency and self-employment.
Rural women in remote Tajikistan face severe economic barriers to vocational training, leaving them financially dependent. Compounding this, many Tajik men who relied on labor migration in Russia face an abrupt return home due to regional geopolitical and economic unrest. Families are suffering severe economic hardship. With the lowest labor participation rate in Central Asia, 49% of young Tajik women are not in education, employment, or training, versus just 7% of men.
We are funding a comprehensive 3-month driving school program for 40 vulnerable rural women. To ensure immediate financial stability upon graduation, we are negotiating direct hiring pipelines with local taxi companies where fleet vehicles are provided. Concurrently, we are establishing a pathway toward self-employment by securing green microloans and grants, enabling the women to eventually buy electric vehicles, maximize their earnings, and reduce carbon emissions.
This initiative provides sustainable livelihoods to 40 marginalized women, drastically reducing household poverty and building female agency in rural regions. By transforming women into active breadwinners, we strengthen families against volatile migration trends. On an environmental level, prioritizing the eventual transition to electric vehicles fosters a clean-energy transit model, cutting urban CO2 emissions while proving that green initiatives can directly power women's economic liberation.
