Report on Training Center for Women

By Azeem Christopher | Project Leader

Dear Friends, Thank you for your donations of USD 2904 which is helping women and girls from poor background to get trained in diversified skills. Few of the income generation courses which were started at our resource center were Make up art, Industrial Stitching, Mobile repairing for females and Computer basics).

Two batches of women and girls have successfully completed these courses and are now in process of establishing their own businesses or getting a job through the skill. Also we wish to share a great news

In November 2020, AWARD Pakistan initiated a 3 months training on "Mobile Repairing" for young girls of Faisalabad at AWARD Women Resource Center, Faisalabad. 30 girls were enrolled in the training program and 19 were able to complete and receive certification. To promote the skill, AWARD also supported the top 3 students, to open up a small mobile laboratory in their areas,  through a small grant of PKR 38,000 and a 2 days business development training, under its Program " URAAN (A flight towards Socio-Economic Sustainability). The training was presumably the first one in the country conducted for females and gladly it was able to attract the media attention. Similarly, the 3 girls became the first females ever to open up a mobile repairing lab as it is very much considered a male dominated job.  The success stories of 2 of the beneficiaries Sana and Asma, who started their businesses, were covered by 7 national news channels and social media pages reaching millions of people all around the world. The national channels which covered the Success Stories are

1) Samaa News

2) Geo News

3) Bol News

4) 92 News

5) Neo Tv

6) Urdu Point

7) Bridge TV
The overall reach our training received on social media is nearly 3 million and we thank all our donors who helped us in establishing a space for the girls and women to learn skills.

We still require funds to do the finishing such as power genertors and outer tiles of the building. We are excited to receive the new batch of girls to the center who will be acquiring the training in the desired courses. To extend our building i-e building a hall (for the capacity of 40 people) to train marginalized, school dropout and unskilled girls of Faisalabad,AWARD requires another USD 18,000 and for this we need an urgent support from our donors and supporters. The training planned to be conducted in the new hall are: 1) Adult Literacy 2) Financial Literacy 3) Digital Freelancing 4) Jam making, Pickle Making, chicken farming 5) Educational seminars (Environment, Mother and Child Health, COVID-19 precauions, Importance of ID Card) 6) Traffic Rules 7) Communication skills 8) Life Skills 9) Marketing and Digital Marketing Skills 10) Income generation courses for girls and women 11) Cookies and Biscuits making 12) Commercial Cooking 13) Toffee making and Many more courses for the girls to sustain their livelihood and support their families.

We would like to request GlobalGiving community to support us in its completion to achieve our target to support 400 poor women and girls every year.
