Challenge

According to the UN Human Development Index, Sierra Leone is ranked as one of the poorest countries in the world. Within this frame of generalized poverty, women come worse off and have been found to be poorer than men. This is due to gender disparities existing with respect to access to and control of a range of assets including direct productive assets such as land and macro credit, human capital assets including education and health, etc.

Solution

Provide adequate response to the problems of discrimination and violence against Women in Sierra Leone. In order to achieve this end, a variety of approaches is called into play with a rich mixture of activities geared towards heightening impact and sustainability of project actions. The project activities are designed in pursuit of the needs identified by not only addressing the problem as identified above but also using capacity building strategies to transform the situation of victims.

Long-Term Impact

The project will educate 300 Women in Sierra Leone, enabling them to rise above abuse and all forms of discrimination.
