Supporting health initiatives and child development

By Fiji team | Project Team

Your ongoing support for this project is deeply appreciated. The empowerment of women within the community is a multifaceted endeavor, and this project actively engages in two impactful ways. Firstly, by collaborating with children through the Learning Through Play program to support mothers and families, and secondly, through health education initiatives.

Let's explore the Learning Through Play program for children. While the primary objective is the development of the attending children, it also serves as a valuable resource for mothers. The program complements the efforts mothers invest at home to foster the growth and development of their children and families. Successful attainment of developmental milestones in children significantly contributes to their thriving when they enter school.

For women, the Learning Through Play program serves as a platform to acquire new ideas on supporting their children's development through a range of play activities. It also grants access to resources that may not be readily available at home. Furthermore, it becomes a communal meeting point where mothers interact with other parents and grandparents, offering support and a vital social outlet. Given the isolating nature of parenting at times, this program becomes a means for mothers to mutually support and share ideas.

Health, particularly women's and families' well-being, is a prominent focus of this project. Health education empowers women to be more informed decision-makers and confident advocates for their family's health. In collaboration with the District Nurse, we identify areas of need and conduct workshops or individual support sessions, broadening women's knowledge and understanding of specific health issues through shared learning. This year alone, we have successfully conducted over 90 workshops and classes on health and nutrition, with outstanding attendance.

Your generous donations play a pivotal role in funding resources for these programs. The funds enable the development of educational materials that empower women with knowledge on various topics, including child development and other health-related subjects relevant to their communities.

Once again, we extend our heartfelt thanks for your continuous support as we persist in these grassroots programs aimed at uplifting and supporting women. Your commitment significantly contributes to the positive impact of these initiatives. Thank you.
