Sewing project taking off

Thank you for your continued support of our Women's Empowerment project. Your contributions help us expand programs that educate, develop skills, and create networks among women in the region. They also ive us the capacity to develop new initiatives.

We focus on boosting women's confidence in speaking English. In the last three months, we've conducted over 50 workshops, providing not just skill development but also a social outlet. We've also held workshops on various health topics.

We're excited to share that we're continuing our sustainable initiative to enhance sewing skills. Women are learning skills like tailoring, machine maintenance, and safety. This initiative aims to preserve Nepali tailoring traditions and empower women to earn income. Your support allowed us to fund the resources necessary for this program.

The women have been involved in this project for the past month. They have finished some baby garments such as baby tees, baby bib, baby hats, traditional Nepali attire cholo. They are so pleased their progress in just a month and are looking forward to furthering their skills.

Your support keeps our long-term projects running smoothly. We're thrilled to see women improving their English skills and expanding into new initiatives to meet community needs.

Excited about a new initiative

We thank you for your ongoing support for the Women's Empowerment project. Your support means increased resources for programs that educate, develop skills and build positive networks among women in the region.

We have a strong focus on supporting women to develop confidence in speaking English. In the past three months we have run over 70 workshop sessions for women. These workshops not only offer a supportive opportuity to develop skills, they are also a have a key outcome of being a social outlet for women in the community. We've also supported with workshops on a range of issues including health topics.

We are excited to report that we have been working with the community to develop a new sustainable initiative based on developing sewing skills. We aim to raise enough funds to purchase five sewing machines. We can also fund an experienced trainer who can deliver sessions to develop skills around sewing. The skills will include; how to tailor clothes more effectively, manage sewing machine issues and to work safely with a sewing machine.

To foster the long Nepali traditions of the artisanal tailoring industry, we will ensure the trainer applies local practices for sewing so the women can develop skill sets that are unique to Pokhara, and so they are more likely to be successful in a larger market. The sewing will give women a chance to develop their skills and apply these to money earning initiatives.

We appreciate you support in keeping our long term projects running. It is wonderful to see the development of English skills among the women and exciting that we can expand to new initiatives to support the needs in the community.

How volleyball can empower women and girls

We are delighted to share, thanks to your support, that we have completed a volleyball court built in collaboration with a school community. This will be the first of many.

You may be wondering how volleyball supports the women and girls of Nepal.

Volleyball, as a sport, has the power to bridge boundaries and create positive social change. In Nepal, where volleyball is a national sport,the game can play a significant role in engaging women and girls, empowering them to become active participants in their communities.

Volleyball promotes physical health. By participating in volleyball, women in Nepal can improve their physical well-being, increase their endurance, and develop essential motor skills. Regular physical activity can also reduce the risk of chronic diseases and enhance overall quality of life.

Volleyball creates teamwork and cooperation. Through participation in volleyball, women and girls in Nepal can enhance interpersonal skills, work collaboratively towards a common goal, and feel a sense of unity. The teamwork and camaraderie fostered through volleyball can extend beyond the court.

Engaging in sports like volleyball can help boost self-confidence and self-esteem among women. As they develop skills and improve their performance on the court, players gain a sense of accomplishment and pride. This confidence can transfer into other areas of their lives.

Volleyball offers a platform to challenge and break traditional gender stereotypes. By participating in a sport often associated with men, women and girls can challenge societal expectations and demonstrate their capabilities. This can shift attitudes towards gender roles, encouraging greater gender equality and inclusivity.

Through organized volleyball programs, women can access educational opportunities, scholarships, and vocational training. Participating in volleyball can nurture leadership skills among women and girls. As they take on roles such as team captains, coaches, or organizers, women gain valuable leadership experience and develop qualities such as decision-making, communication, and problem-solving. This is why our program is not just about building a court it is about developing volleyball programs as well.

Volleyball can serve as a vehicle for social inclusion, bringing together women from diverse backgrounds and fostering unity. It offers a platform for women and girls to interact, share experiences, and build supportive networks.

We aim to conitinue expanding this volleyball program to reach further communities. It is with your support that this program can continue to help build courts and expand volleyball programs.

By embracing volleyball as a tool for empowerment, our project can pave the way for gender equality, social change, and the overall well-being of girls and women.
