Women's Empowerment

By Nancy Lind | Consultant

The project is entirely self funded as there have been few to no donations. We are continuing to empower women one at a time by finding funds for individual business or farming ventures. In a given year we have requests from 200 women but are only able to sponsor about half of them. Of those who are sponsored, 100 percent remained in the business the next year and are beginning to lift their families from poverty.

The most common businesses are women creating gardens to grow food both to feed their family and to sell on the open market. The second common business is for the women to get a small set of tools to engage in sewing clothing.
