The co-operative is still waiting for the Urban Housing Permit to come through. This is a legal document regarding the plot of land they purchased. I understand from Zoénabou that although this is a formality, unfortunately it is a lengthy process.

Visits

TN was visited by the Chief Executive of International Service in May and Zoénabou was awarded a Certificate of Recognition for all of the work she has put into Tigoung Nonma. Zoénabou has been defending the socio-economic rights of TN’s members since 2005 and has helped relieve the poverty of many people despite the extremely challenging conditions and economic circumstances that they face.

TN was also visited by a member of Friends of Burkina Faso, our partner NGO based in Ougadougou, who was able to visit the plot with Zoénabou and possibly other members of the co-operative. Zoénabou said that FBF’s representative was very happy with the new headquarters and was impressed with TN’s work.

Fundraising

We are finally organising another fundraiser in the UK. This will take place on the 17th November and the evening will include a meal, music, a raffle and a bar. We have been busy getting together raffle prizes and local businesses have been really kind; as a result of this, we have some really good prizes already. Two fantastic local singers will be performing and I hope to sell some TN crafts at the event. I am really looking forward to the evening and can only hope that it is as successful as the last event in 2016.
