Build Workshop for Physically Disabled Burkinabes

1. Introduction

From February to May 2023 TN held several meetings to plan and to execute certain activities. The organisations’ 3 year plan was devised.

However for various reasons, TN was not able to carry out certain activities.

Activities carried out

• Meetings

TN held 4 committee meetings, 4 meetings with the executive committee in order to finalise its plan of action for 2023- 2025.

On the 10th February a meeting was held with the organisations’ members to discuss and validate its plan of action.

During this time, TN organised an exchange with its members in order to gather information about the health issues that they are facing. The aim was also to raise awareness among the members present and to guide them in accessing disability cards. These cards would allow members to benefit from reductions on health costs and access further reductions in other sectors/domains:

Education, transport, professional training, sport, leisure, art, political, social and public life participation.

Of the members present 17 were female and 4 were male. Health issues were noted and published on the globalgiving fund for health costs that Tigoung Nonma orchestrated. 

• Plan of Action

TN defined its plan of action fro 2023-2025 or for the next 3 years. What remains is to present this plan to different organisations/structures in order to gain funding/support in order to facilitate the planned activities.

• Catering Service

During this period, TN received 13 orders for the catering service from several organisations amounting to a total of 6625900 CFA (£8614.12)**. However, 8 of these invoices have not yet been paid which makes managing operating costs difficult.

• These were for orders paid for by the state- the procedure is typically lengthy delaying the payments which we need. 
• Tigoung Nonma’s GlobalGiving Project

TN currently has a sum of 145 229 4.06 CFA (£1888.08) for its new headquarters. This amount has not yet been used for new activities in the new headquarters.

2. Difficulties faced:

• TN has 8 unpaid invoices owed to them for the catering service orders : 5497 375 F  CFA (£7194.96)
• TN has not yet moved into its new headquarters for several reasons:

Not enough money to construct accessible rooms or to pave the centre to allow members to move freely around the centre using wheelchairs.

• Limited funds mobilised on globalgiving
• When its raining, the mud will complicate internal movement of members ;
• The main road leading to TN’s headquarters is damaged which makes it difficult for members to get there either on handtrikes or on motos.
•  The organisation was unable to participate in FESPACO because members couldn’t make and send many works or products.
• Limited sales of Artisanale range

• 3. Results achieved

A plan of action was written and agreed by members.

Members are now aware of how to obtain disability cards

TN received catering service orders and certain charges have been paid.

4.  Looking forward

• Generate funding to facilitate planned activities for 2023-2025
• Fixing of the road leading up to the centre, planned for this year by the Burkinabé government. 
• - Receive unpaid invoices from the catering service

5. Conclusion

TN has its action plan ready for 2023- 2025, we now need to generate funding in order to carry out the planned activities.
