The Shipibo Youth Empowerment Program is designed to enable the youth to access the resources and training they need to lead healthy lives, revitalize their culture and achieve their goals. Alianza Arkana organizes workshops and intercultural exchanges, in Santa Clara, Bena Jema and Paoyhan, in order to help the youth step into their rightful role as positive change-makers for their communities.
Globalization has reached all corners of the world, the Shipibo communities of the Ucayali region of Peru are no exception. With globalization comes an array of challenges, notably for the Shipibo youth who have the difficult task of consolidating external influences with their ancestral culture.
Alianza Arkana works in collaboration with the communities of Santa Clara, Bena Jema and Paoyhan, to help the youth to develop personally and professionally. Through participative workshops, on female empowerment, cultural revitalization, sustainability and personal development, the youth are given the tools to develop themselves and their aspirations.
Currently working with 5000 Shipibos, our goal is to effectively partner with the whole Shipibo nation (35,000 people) to co-create a web of healthy, vibrant communities that work symbiotically with the forest they depend on. Linked by permaculture impact centers, communities will pair landscape regeneration with entrepreneurship to create right-livelihood opportunities that cultivate awareness and sovereignty - growing sustainable economies, revitalizing culture, and educating for resilience.
