Challenge

Due to lack of relevant role models from adults (family) and harsh living condition youth from foster and institutional care have very weak competencies in such life skills as daily economics and management of their own finances. They need to be taught how to achieve economic, social and emotional self-reliance, how to break barriers, how to find their place in the world and in the society. In Poland there is lack of organized programs to youth from care.

Solution

We will prepare care leavers to successful independent life through teaching them such important life skills as daily life economics and management of their personal finances adequately to the level of their income. Preparing the youth for entrance a job market, getting knowledge about application for work, job interview, finding their vocational preferences. We will also teach them soft skills -how to be assertive, how to talk with adults and keep limits. All workshops have practical training.

Long-Term Impact

Young people will be prepared to deal with: very low financial support from the state, being on debt and managing budgets, difficulties with accommodation, lack of relevant support from social workers due to overload of administrative duties, being on the job market and negative employment practices. They will not be dependent on social care and will not criminalized.
