Worldwide, a child is diagnosed with cancer every two minutes. By the time you have finished reading this, another family will be embarking on a challenging and life-changing journey.
Four out of five of those children will live in low and middle-income countries, where a lack of resources and poor health infrastructure often conspire against them.
Despite advances in cancer treatment, which mean that over 80% of children in wealthy countries like the UK and USA will survive, in poorer countries it is another story, with as few as 10% surviving their illness.
With your support, we are standing up to say: cancer treatment should be affordable and accessible for children and their families, regardless of where they live.
How you're making a difference
Rebecca started to experience terrible pains in her legs, fever, and was often anaemic. Her family visited several hospitals in search of answers, but her condition was worsening. With your support, she was finally referred to Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH), Ghana and received a diagnosis of leukaemia and began treatment.
Five years after completing treatment, Rebecca goes to the hospital every six months for check-ups and remains cancer-free.
When you support World Child Cancer, you are making a lasting impact by giving a child with cancer, like Rebecca, the chance of a future.
Thank you for helping to give children with cancer the gift of growing up!
