Yemen is suffering from the worst humanitarian crisis in a century. Before COVID-19, the country was already fighting a cholera epidemic, famine, and the effects of civil war. As a result, the UN says that coronavirus could spread "faster, wider, and with deadlier consequences in Yemen than many other countries in the world. Your donation goes towards the Yemen Emergency Relief Fund. This fund provides healthcare equipment, supplies & treatment as well as food & water to vulnerable people.
In Yemen, where an already weak health system has been destroyed by five years of conflict and 80% of the population is in need of humanitarian assistance, COVID-19 is exacerbating what was already the world's worst humanitarian crisis. With the current situation healthcare workers are at high risk for contracting coronavirus, and if not adequately equipped, there one less person on the front-line.
Coronavirus infections continue to grow and as they do, 97 health workers have died from COVID-19 in Yemen. Such infections increase the rate of infection throughout a community and can pull critical health workers out of service. MedGlobal needs your continued support to help provide PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) and medical supplies for healthcare workers.
Healthcare workers are the front-line defense against COVID-19. Many are lacking vital Personal Protection Equipment to keep them safe. They need your help. Our goal is to sponsor 1000 healthcare workers.
