Venezuela's well-known turmoil is intertwined with a hyperinflation the country has been under since 2017 which only intensified an already complex humanitarian crisis further impacted by climate change. Our small nonprofit has continued to make tirelessly efforts to grow inside communities with the presence of community advocates that sustain our food bank, sterilization, adoption, education, and veterinary care programs. Would you help us expand our capacity? Your help, their hope!
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, Venezuela continued to immerse our country further in isolation. Then, 2022 came rushing with the forces of nature. Overflown streams and toppling bedrock left at least 82 dead and many others have disappeared. 2023 was marked by forced displacement that intensified animal abandonment and made our job almost unsustainable as we struggled to fund support to community animal advocated on the ground that are able to reach those that need support the most.
Funding for our programs will help us reach Community Animal Advocates that are the faces on the ground able to provide support in real time. Our current numbers do not even make it close to a regular meal or immediate vet care for these animals whether it is sterilization or urgent care. Therefore, the funding of the systems that enable intervention and support presents a solution.
Our hope is to grow the Community Animal Advocates initiative as permanent program in Aragua, Carabobo, Caracas, Lara y Sucre with a regular supply of 150 gr. of food per animal per day for approximately 244 canines, and 136 felines, as well as covering for the spay/neuter for those that most need it since 73% of the cases we see in our vet care program would have been prevented through timely sterilization.
