You can change the future, support a student of PR

By Anelis Torres Rivera | Development Account Manager

Guided by our MISSION to offer our participants a safe and creative place where we help them develop their skills to become leaders who achieve their academic, personal, and professional goals. Since January 2023 to the present Boys & Girls Club of Puerto Rico has offered a programmatic impact to 31,167 participants through our educational, economic and social pillars throughout 11 municipalities in Puerto Rico.  We continue to grow stronger and focus on giving back to our boys, girls and youth the right to learn and play, increase skills in spanish, english, math and science, and meet their emotional, social and economic needs.

As success stories, we can highlight the following:

  • The impact initiative, Youth of the Year, was carried out. The most important recognition that a BGCPR participant can receive. It recognizes the contribution of young leaders serving their club, family, community, and school. It also celebrates the participant’s academic performance and moral character, as well as the personal challenges they’ve faced and the obstacles they’ve overcome (see news in link).
  • Through our Hot Meals Program we have served 352,315 plates. This meal, on many occasions, can be the last hot meal at the end of the participant's day.
  • Three exemplary young participants from our Carolina, Isabela, and Aguas Buenas Clubs won an award at the National Advocacy and STEM Summit in Washington D.C. for their project on Climate Change: A Threat to Water Reservoirs. (see news in link)
  • Participants from our Luis Llorens Torres Club in Santurce, PR participated in the exhibition "Lánzame a  la Selva" an inside look at residential life. Their artwork was exhibited at the Oller Art Museum of San Juan, PR.  The exhibition gathered different expressions of art, from masks, photographic installations, collages, audiovisual pieces, paintings, drawings, and sculptures, for a total of 17 pieces of art. The participants worked on their pieces during workshops and art programs offered at their club, after school hours, and during the summer camp program (see news in link).
