Good news for the next generation of EcoLeaders!

By Juliana Ferreira | Communication Coordinator

Dear fellow educators,

First of all, we want to thank you for your support of our educational program. Together we really are making a difference!

We know that environmental education is a fundamental tool for training young leaders committed to protecting and preserving the environment. It opens doors for the next generation to develop skills and knowledge that allow them to understand the importance of environmental conservation and promote positive changes in their communities. And we want to share some feedback from our Ecoleaders.

Our educational coordinator recently met up with a group of last year’s Ecoleaders. In the course of the conversation they told her that, by participating in the program they learned a lot of new information on topics such as climate change, waste management, biodiversity conservation and sustainable use of natural resources. Not only that, but they also developed leadership and teamwork skills, which are essential to the success of any project.

But the truth is that you already know that. And now, they do too.

And it seems that the local authorities do too!  So we are happy to announce that for the second consecutive year we have managed to establish a partnership with city hall to provide transport for the schoolchildren to Iracambi, which is wonderful because here at Iracambi we don’t yet have a school bus!

Not bad, is it? Together we’re raising a new generation of environmental leaders.
