What Can Empower Kids? A Thriving Environment Week

By Juliana Mendes | Comunication Coordinator

In a world where environmental challenges loom large, fostering eco-consciousness in the younger generation is key to a sustainable future. And this is one of our biggest goals as an organization and one of the ways that we learned to do it is through the "Environment Week", a transformative one-week event designed to ignite passion and action among the kids of our Young Ecoleaders program. This special week is a celebration of their dedication to making a positive impact on the planet and serves as a platform to discuss vital environmental issues.

Throughout the week, these young eco-enthusiasts immerse themselves in a series of engaging activities, workshops, and discussions centered around environmental topics. Their curiosity is nurtured, and their knowledge expanded as they learn about pressing issues like climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution, and sustainable living practices.

And for this year, we were able to do something we never did before: we were able to make our young changemakers embark on a visit to the city council.

Equipped with newfound insights and unwavering determination, they had a unique opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations with local politicians, sharing their concerns, ideas, and aspirations for a more sustainable future, and expressing their vision of the world of tomorrow.

They stressed the urgency of taking immediate action to protect our planet for future generations. And we were so proud of them because they've proven over and over again that age is not a barrier when it comes to advocating for the environment.

Their interactions with the city council members were met with genuine interest and appreciation. The policymakers listened intently, realizing the significance of involving the youth in shaping policies and initiatives aimed at safeguarding the environment.

As the Environment Week concludes, hope lingers in the air—a hope fueled by the potential of these young minds to address environmental challenges. we can say that this experience can leave a lasting impact on these young ecoleaders hearts, because with their commitment, knowledge, and passion, they embrace the future with optimism, knowing they hold the power to save the environment and build a better world for generations to come.

Words alone cannot capture the gratitude we feel for your support. Without your belief in our cause, none of this would have been possible. So thanks, once again!

With rainforest hugs,

The Iracambi team
