Hello everyone! We hope you are well!
The end of the year is approaching and we couldn't have got this far without your help. There are many challenges ahead, and knowing that we are together, and we share the same goal of caring for the Atlantic Forest, fills our hearts with joy.
Binka, one of our founders, would like to thank everyone who donated to Iracambi on Giving Tuesday, 3 December. Your help will make it possible to plant 2,180 native Atlantic Forest tree seedlings in the reforestation projects and guarantee the participation of 57 students in the Young Ecoleaders project in 2025.
People need forests and forests need people. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Iracambi joins Call To Earth on 4 December with organisations from around the world
Our NGO Iracambi joined communities from around the world to support sustainable solutions and face the challenges posed by the climate crisis, as part of CNN’s Call to Earth Day.
The environmental education action “Don’t Sleep on the Spot” was carried out at the garbage collection site in the rural area of Rosário da Limeira (MG), a municipality in the state of Minas Gerais (MG), Brazil, as a call to rethink our waste production as individuals and as a society, and how small actions can create big changes.
The site was cleaned with the participation of 12 students from the Maria Auxiliadora Guarçoni Benini Bonato Municipal School, part of our Young Ecoleaders program, who also created signs with educational messages.
Also present in Iracambi were the NGO’s founders, Robin Le Breton and Binka Le Breton, Environmental Education Coordinator Dayana Duarte, Communications Coordinator Carla da Hora Duailibi, five German volunteers and Volunteer Coordinator Gabriela Soares. We are also grateful for the presence of the Secretary of Education Meire Cristina Curi, the Secretary of Sport, Culture, Leisure and Tourism Pauleandro Bicario Coelho and the support of the Municipal Secretary of Agriculture and Environment Siderley José Braga.
In 25 years of operation, Iracambi has planted 282,400 native trees, has 8,737 hectares of protected areas, has 135 hectares of permanently protected forest (Private Natural Heritage Reserve), has hosted 2,500 students studying in the Atlantic Forest and 2,500 volunteers from 73 countries.
Together we can take care of the Atlantic Forest and build a greener, cleaner and healthier planet for all.
We're starting another forest restoration project, shall we have a look?
Join our coordinator Luiz Gusmão to find out more about the work of the Forests for Water project in the communities around Iracambi. The project is being carried out in agroforestry areas and the team is taking advantage of the rainy season to prepare the land for planting. The sites have been surveyed over the past few months within a 15-20 km radius of our NGO's headquarters.
As Luiz explains in the video, there are a number of challenges as the terrain includes steep areas used for cattle grazing as well as flatter parts, and seedlings of native Atlantic Forest species produced in our nursery will be used. It is worth remembering that the funding for the project comes from a partnership with the Brazil Foundation.
Florestas para Água (Forests for Water) is an important project that is having a positive impact on the rural area of Rosário da Limeira, the town in Minas Gerais where Iracambi is located, because it is preserving springs, allowing rural farmers to produce food in a sustainable way, preserving the forest and biodiversity.
Nice, right?
