Hello, dear friends!
And we hope you are doing well, wherever you are in the world!
2026 certainly started full speed down here in the rainforest, it's been hot and wet, and we've been structuring our education programs for 2026. Preparatory work begins after Carnaval when school is back after the summer vacation, so there's no time to lose!
2025 was a good year for our education programs, which got bigger and better and impacted more people then ever before. Check them out!
1. Total immersion days in the forest. Groups of students from schools within a radius of 100 km from Iracambi spend an entire day with us in a carefully structured program focusing on raising their awareness of the environment and sustainable lifestyles, helping them reconnect with nature, and challenging them to find and adopt new ways of caring for the planet.Teachers and students alike simply love this program, and leave with high energy, determined to become better stewards of nature. In 2025 we welcomed nearly 1000 children, and would have had more had it not been for challenges in arranging transport.
2. Cultural exchange: In this remote area, the international student community at Iracambi is a valuable resource to expose local students to the wider world. Our students travel to local schools, bringing a taste of their countries, customs, food, sports, and a few words of their languages. In return, the Brazilian students introduce them to the culture and customs of Brazil. Both the local and the international students benefit enormously!
3. Young EcoLeaders: This highly sought-after program is designed for 50 students a year to take a deep dive into critical thinking, experiential learning, climate studies, environmental justice and gender equity - all combined into a program of leadership which has a trickle up effect on their families - most of whom did not have the educational opportunities that their children enjoy.
Pathways to Knowledge: This program is designed specifically for 40 high schoolers who are economically and socially vulnerable and need extra help to be able to dream a future for themselves and take the first steps in bringing that future to life.
