The project aims at fighting the illiteracy and the vast school drop-out rate in Razgrad region. We will achieve that by providing young and dedicated teachers in 3 schools in the region. Teach For Bulgaria teachers will work with students, help them overcome academic deficiencies and motivate them for better results. The funds will cover teachers' recruitment, training, development and support. Every dollar raised will be matched with an international grant.
In North East Bulgaria, Europe's third poorest region, majority of kids come from families with very low socio-economic status. Very often these kids leave school before the age of 15 or dramatically underperform compared to their counterparts in big cities or from wealthy families. The lack of basic education and skills keeps these kids away from the workforce and predetermines their prospects for the future.
Every child deserves good education which will allow him/her unleash his/her potential. Teach For Bulgaria has a proven track record in recruiting, training and supporting young and dedicated teachers in their work with underperforming students and challenging environment. Our teachers build the academic process in a way that shows students learning can be both fun and useful. They engage students after-class allowing them to practice the knowledge obtained, develop skills and gain self-esteem.
Teach For Bulgaria believes that teacher's quality is the main predictor of student success. With their work, teachers aim at influencing children's attitude towards school and motivating them to strive for better academic results and success in life. Furthermore students acquire not only knowledge but build confidence too. All this enables them to be competitive when applying for higher education and on the job market.
