AICA is working to enhance the rights of marginalized groups in North Lebanon targeting refugees, stateless, migrant & vulnerable beneficiaries. Its main activities includes provision of legal services & conducting awareness/advocacy activities. AICA's protection team will receive legal claims from mainly battered women then direct eligible cases to legal team for follow-up, AICA will also focus on family issues like identification papers & reconsideration for prejudged under-age individuals.
Lebanon's social structure is threatened by the massive economic crisis facing the country since 3 years now, due to a a sharp depreciation in the local currency's value, affecting every industry and field. The crisis has brutally hit citizens, immigrants & stateless causing an increase in violence among societies mainly against woman & children in addition to increase of crimes committed by under-age and increase of giving birth to children without any legal marriage or documents registrations.
AICA's protection team with support of the legal unit consisting of lawyers and social workers, will work on advocacy & raising awareness to help woman and children understand their rights as well as provide support and follow up on different topics and problems from marriage to divorce to registration forms & identification papers leading to advocating their basic rights and standings by their side against injustice.
The potential long term impact is getting closer to achieving basic rights of humanity especially in marginalized areas in Lebanon. The sense of security and safety is something AICA works on achieving.
