Support Youth Living with Disabilities in Armenia!

We continue to provide free legal advice and protect the organization's beneficiaries and citizens in difficult situations in the judicial system.

Those who receive social package benefits have become especially vulnerable.

The government has introduced a program - a single window, where the system automatically includes beneficiaries. Previously, beneficiaries who used the service have now been excluded from the system and do not receive social benefits. Many citizens apply to the organization to restore their rights. We have recorded 2 cases where we were able to restore the benefit to our beneficiaries. Our team is satisfied with the work performed.

The achievement of the organization during this quarter was that the legal department did a great job, we helped 3 young people with limited abilities /over 18 years old/ to be recognized as incompetent through a judicial process. It means:

1. An application is submitted to the court and the court accepts the proceedings and convenes a session

2 The court sends the case to the appropriate medical psychiatric center for examination.

3 Based on the conclusion of the psychiatric hospital, the court recognizes the person as incompetent.

4. After that, a decision is made and it enters into legal force after 1 month.

5 From which we apply to the community Guardianship Committee, that body convenes a committee session and appoints a guardian for the person recognized as incompetent - this is a family member, mother, relative, sister, friend.

The guardian carries out transactions on behalf of the person recognized as incompetent: purchase and sale, alienation of property, transactions in banks, signature and submission of an application. The decision of the Guardianship Committee is mandatory for the performance of these actions.

If a person recognized as incompetent is able to study at an institution or trade, then the Guardian is paid by the state.
