Every teenager deserves a safe space to grow, play, and thrive. This project will provide 500 at-risk teens in Kano State, Nigeria, with structured sports, mentorship, and life-skills training. Through football, basketball, and athletics, participants will develop teamwork, discipline, and confidence. Weekly sessions, tournaments, and mentorship workshops ensure teens remain engaged, healthy, and inspired to achieve their full potential.
Thousands of teens in Kano face poverty, school dropout, and exposure to crime and drugs, yet have limited access to safe, structured recreational activities. Idle hours after school increase the risk of negative influences, while girls often lack inclusive programs. Without positive engagement, youth miss opportunities to build discipline, leadership, and social cohesion, placing their health, education, and futures at serious risk.
We will create inclusive, community-based sports programs for 500 teens, combining physical activity with mentorship and life-skills training. Weekly football, basketball, and athletics sessions will teach teamwork and leadership. Monthly workshops cover goal-setting, conflict resolution, and health awareness. Community tournaments foster unity, while trained coaches and volunteers ensure the program is culturally relevant, sustainable, and scalable.
By program end, 500 teens will be healthier, more confident, and equipped to make positive choices. Expected outcomes include improved school attendance, reduced risky behaviors, and stronger leadership skills. Trained coaches and youth volunteers will sustain activities, embedding a lasting sports culture in Kano communities, reducing crime and social unrest while empowering teens with hope, resilience, and life-long opportunities.
