You're Never Too Old to Learn

Vegetable Garden
Vegetable Garden

Mbuya means grandmother in the shona language, the major language spoken in Zimbabwe.  Mbuya cares for her grandchildren, and now has hope for their future.  What has this elderly grandmother done to make this change in their lives?

Mbuya has proven that you're never too old to learn!  She has grasped our method growing local types of vegetable during one of our regular workshops.  Now she is the proud owner of this thriving green vegetable garden.  During our support visit, we met Mbuya's grandchildren and saw them watering the vegetables.  They told us that they have been selling some of the vegetables and used the money to buy sugar and other commodities.  During the hot season this type of vegetable garden does not demand much labor.  They have learned that if you give it a good soaking about twice a week, with mulching, it does very well.

We are thrilled to be a part of the success of this family, and we could not do it without supporters like yourself.  Mbuya is grateful to AFCA for the assistance she is receiving and feels blessed to see her grandchildren attending school.  They are no longer struggling, they are thriving!
