Our project aims to strengthen efforts in prevention and early detection. We propose launching two targeted social actions: Breast and lung Cancer Screening Campaign These initiatives aim to educate the public about the importance of early screening, raise awareness among at-risk groups about common cancer symptoms, and facilitate access to screenings for socio-economically disadvantaged communities through partnerships with local healthcare facilities.
In Morocco, experts are raising alarms about the steady increase in cancer cases, which now exceed 60,000 per year. Recent epidemiological data reveal an overall incidence rate of 116 per 100,000 inhabitants, with a 12% risk of developing cancer before the age of 75. The most common cancers include breast cancer, thyroid cancer, and cervical cancer in women, as well as lung cancer and prostate cancer in men.
In this context, we propose a funding request project to conduct cancer screening awareness and information campaigns. Facilitate access to screening exams for socio-economically disadvantaged groups, in partnership with local healthcare facilities. Mobilize the community and stakeholders to support screening initiatives and encourage a culture of prevention in society. Expected Impact The impact of these campaigns extends beyond awareness and education.
Through these campaigns, we hope not only to increase awareness about cancer screening but also to encourage a behavioral change within the population. By prompting more people to get screened, we can contribute to earlier detection of cancers, which will allow for faster and less costly treatment, thereby reducing cancer-related mortality and the associated economic costs.
