LUNG CANCER AWARENESS CAMPAIGN REPORT 2024

By Beatrice Beloubad | Project Leader

1. Introduction The Dar Zhor Association conducted a lung cancer awareness campaign in 2024, aiming to educate the public about the risks of this disease and the importance of early detection.

2. Digital Communication As part of this campaign, extensive informative content was disseminated in Darija, Amazigh, and French:

  • Number of publications: 56

  • Number of specialist video clips: 9

  • Total views: 2,970,003

  • Total likes: 38,282

The video clips featuring medical specialists achieved significant success, reaching a wide audience and strengthening awareness of this important issue.

3. Awareness Sessions Awareness sessions were organized for 300 employees and young students in various institutions to:

  • Inform about the dangers of smoking, the primary risk factor for lung cancer.

  • Raise awareness of the importance of early detection.

  • Promote preventive practices aimed at reducing risky behaviors.

These sessions were led by experts who shared their knowledge and contributed to the campaign's overall impact.

4. Poster Campaign To enhance the visibility of the campaign, posters were displayed in several health centers, hospitals, and medical offices, including:

  • Casablanca University Hospital (Oncology, Radiotherapy, Respiratory Diseases departments...)

  • 20 August Hospital and Moulay Youssef Hospital

  • Pulmonologists’ offices

  • International University of Casablanca

  • Radiology and consultation centers

5. Unfulfilled Social Action The Dar Zhor Association initially planned to implement a social action to provide low-dose CT scans for people in precarious situations to facilitate early detection of lung cancer. Unfortunately, this initiative could not be carried out due to a lack of sufficient funding.

6. Conclusion Despite the lack of funding for the social action, the awareness campaign was a great success in terms of engagement and message dissemination. The Dar Zhor Association remains committed to continuing its efforts and hopes to secure the necessary resources to achieve this social action in future campaigns.
