Project Report | Feb 28, 2024
Hope restored for Women and their households.

By Florence Nakayi | Project Leader

The project has brought so much hope in the lives of the women in Kagumba village. From the distribution of 15 goats to that were given out in two years.

The project has been able to multiply, As the project 5 goats were given out and through your support in 2023, we were able to purchase more 10 goats to give to more women. Through the distribution of goats’ women's hope to achieve some their dreams is restored.  With the multiplication of goats, the women income for the households will greatly increase and the children will be able to have what to eat and be sustained in schools.

Currently the project has 24 goats and the income received from goats ensures that the women can afford various domestic expenses, such as their children's school fees and medical costs.

The project has brought a tremendous change in the women's lives, for envision a different lifestyle for their children and families at large. They have started making plans for a better future most especially for their children not to end up in early marriages because of no education like them. Nakkitto one of the women living with HIV says, "am joyful to have goats. I have always wanted to give my children a better future than mine but I didn’t know how considering my financial status, but the project has enabled me to send two of my daughters to school. I hope my daughters will have a different life to mine. I didn’t go to school myself”.

Kirabo, Says' "before the project started people in the community only met on funerals and burial ceremonies but the project has created more unity in the Community, and they often meet to discuss the growth of the project and more constructive ideas that help them think beyond their poverty situation. The project has greatly improved the relationships of the people and the local leaders which is very good start for a better change in the community.

However, four of our goats have failed to get pregnant which very much worrying to the women leaving women not knowing their fate. The goats will be sold and use the money to buy other goats that can reproduce.

Lastly, with the project we envision a life where women are economically empowered to be able to fully take care of their households and provide for them the basic needs in life like food, medical, education and more.
