Challenge

Weekly 8 underprivileged children attend Daktari Bush School where experiential learning is aimed at inspiring them to take action for conservation. Biology and Ecology come to life during bush walks and in our wildlife orphanage Cheetahs are impressive and non aggressive making them ideal for education. This 10 year old Cheetah is no longer useful for breeding, is too old to be released and needs a new home. This cheetah would make an inspiring wildlife ambassador at Daktari Bush School.

Solution

The cheetah needs a home. De Wildt, the cheetah’s owners, have specific guide-lines for enclosures, which will cost us $11,060 USD. Once the new enclosure is built the cheetah can become part of Daktari Bush School’s education programme.

Long-Term Impact

The cheetah will be part of our programme to educate underprivileged youth so they will eventually be able to secure good employment in nature reserves. It will also inspire children to take action to protect wildlife and their fragile environment.
