A little girl was brought to us from the hospita;. The little baby has birth defects and when the mother found out what the problem was with this preciou little girl she decided to relinguish the baby.
We have done extensive tracing to find the mother of the precious baby girl in the hope we can keep both of them together.
Due to the past conflict there was a shortage of ascorbiv acid, which most women receive when they are pregnant. The result is that more women deliver babies with birth defects like spina BIfeda, clubfoot and cleft palate.
The baby was entrusted to our care and we immidiately started to look for sustainable solutions. The best outcome for this baby was that she would have surgery. The regional main hospital was not in a state enough to do the surgery. We decided that it would be better to take the baby to Addis Ababa to have the surgery.
The baby was seen by the surgeons and as she was at the right weight to perform the surgery. She was scheduled for surgery a few days later and all went very well. Within a few days we had our little darling back in our care and she has been recovering amazingly. The doctors have told us that she doesn't need to come back to Addis Ababa and hat her foloow-up can be done in the region.
We will continue to look for her mother in the hope that we can work with the mother and keep this baby within the family. For now we will love and care for her to the best of our ability.
