I suppose a projects life is like a persons life...full of ups and downs! Happy times, sad times, tragic times, struggles, joys, crisis, monotony, endurance, gratitude etc. We are so glad that years ago we decided that Education would be the thing that would sustain us...it would give stability, sustainability and motivation to keep the project going through all its trials and tribulations. I think this was more by accident than design as we are not really a planned project but an evolving one. We have evolved from just a small group of village volunteers doing dramas in the villages to educate the surrounding community with an understanding of HIV/AID......., all the way over the years to what we are now. We are now .a project with 4 Programme.! these being 1. Education,2. Home Care, 3. Orphan support,4. Community development, with all of these 4 programmes dependent on an input of education and trainings.
Even the most poor uneducated person has a chance with us! Let us take "Roseby", whose field of crops was destroyed by the cyclone early in the year. Roseby is an Orphan Guardian and although she has lost all her harvest this year she was one of the Orphan guardians who was able to attend the small buainess trainng and so get a loan to start a small business...we wish her success.! and then we have Dorothy who is starting secondary school...Dorothy would never have any chance of an education without the help of Likulezi...and when I say Likulezi...I mean YOU....you have made this possible.
So far this year we have conducted the following Trainings.
Leadership for the 14 community groups,
Education through Drama , Dance and Song in the surrounding villages.
,Small business training for orphan Guardians before getting their disbursement of a loan to start their business,
Fees paid for Orphans and vulnerable children for secondary school,
Agro forestry training
Monitoring training in order to monitor the Crops and compost making for the Orphan guardians.
