DTI Community will give a hand to AETHA to raise funds for the maintenance of their shelter homes/facilities for organ transplant patients' relatives. Unfortunately, not all of these families can afford to rent an apartment or stay in a hotel during this difficult time. AETHA's shelter homes have the purpose of providing a free-of-charge accommodation close to the hospital for the patient's family.
An organ transplant is a major surgery that no one should go through alone. Family support is very important in these circumstances and may even affect the outcome of the surgery.Several patients from the small towns of the Aragon region must travel to its capital city of Zaragoza to receive a transplant surgery and then have to stay there until their complete recovery. Unfortunately, not all of these families can afford to rent an apartment or stay in a hotel during this difficult time.
AETHA's shelter homes have the purpose of providing a free-of-charge accommodation close to the hospital for the patient's family. Our mission is to provide a safe and cozy place for the patient's relatives to stay and to ease the heavy burden of financial and emotional stress during these times ,when they have to be away from home. The shelter homes are a very requested service, with continuous occupation. They are of great importance in our community and have very satisfactory results.
Family support has been proved necessary for the full recovery of transplant patients. But many families have to rent an additional apartment, sometimes for months, which brings financial difficulty and distress. To all this, we must also add expenses, such as travel, dietary, basic hygiene and more. This project will provide patients and their families a warm, cozy and safe space to stay. Donations will also dramatically reduce healthcare costs during a patient's transplantation and recovery.
