What's Happening and How to Help

We believe that organizations that are deeply rooted in local communities are in the best position to provide long-term support for survivors of natural disasters like these. By funding the relief efforts of local organizations, donations to this fund have the potential to build stronger response capacity so that these organizations are better equipped to face future challenges.

The projects listed below are led by vetted GlobalGiving partners responding to this disaster. You can donate directly to a specific project or to GlobalGiving’s Afghanistan Earthquake Relief Fund and we'll allocate it to where it's needed most. GlobalGiving will post reports about how your donation has been put to use.

Help Afghanistan Rise After Devastating Earthquake
A devastating earthquake has shaken the lives of thousands in Afghanistan, leaving destruction in its wake. Over 2,000 people have been killed or injured, homes and villages lie in ruins, and hospitals and clinics are overwhelmed. Our commitment to the people of Afghanistan is more critical now than ever.
Winter Relief for Afghanistan
This campaign focuses on providing food, clothing, blankets, baby supplies, fire logs, and more for Kabul & Balkh, two provinces at an increased risk for starvation and death this winter due to the reduced humanitarian assistance. There is a critical need for your support to help these families survive the coming winter. Please take a moment to make a lifesaving donation - any amount will help make a difference.

About GlobalGiving’s Disaster Response

When a disaster strikes, recovery efforts led by people who live and work in affected communities are often overlooked and underfunded. GlobalGiving is changing this reality. Since 2004, we've been shifting decision-making power to crises-affected communities through trust-based grantmaking and support.

We make it easy, quick, and safe to support people on the ground who understand needs in their communities better than anyone else.

They were there long before the news cameras arrived, and they’ll be there long after the cameras leave. They know how to make their communities more resilient to future disasters, and they’re already hard at work. GlobalGiving puts donations and grants directly into their hands. Because the status quo—which gives the vast majority of funding to a few large organizations—doesn’t make sense.
