Dear friends and donors, Namaste,
Greetings from BASS!
We wish you a very happy new year to you and your loved ones. We are grateful for your continued love, compassion, support and partnership to the elderly people in our project. Your generosity helps us to care, protect and provide daily meals to them.
This project has been operating a daily meal program for 80 vulnerable elderly people in two locations in Guntur district since 2020. Every day, the elderly people gather at the centers by 10 AM and have meetings and catch up with each other. They have lunch and stay for some time there before going back to their houses. They are very happy to mingle with other elderly people in the center and enjoy their time together.
We have also provided some nutrition and food kits to the elderly during this quarter as additional support to them.
The selected elderly are very weak, suffering from ill health and having no one to care for them. That is why we started this project to take care of some of the identified needy elderly people in two locations in Guntur district. This project is very successful and must continue as we are very happy to see the smiley faces of the elderly people at the center.
During this quarter, one location near the seacoast cyclone prone village, Pallekona, got severely affected by a cyclone. Their huts were damaged and they also suffered a lot. We provided daily meals even during the cyclone and for at least one week the stagnated water disturbed the elderly and they also suffered a lot.
Unfortunately, we are not able to get sufficient donations to this project. We received only USD 158 during this quarter. The prices of food groceries, vegetables and milk have increased a lot. This project needs at least USD 500 per month to operate one center and cover the expenses for 50 elderly people.
We humbly request you to kindly make a new donation or subscribe for a monthly donation and join us in caring and protecting the elderly people.
Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity.
