Dignity and Nourishment for Our Elders- September - December 2025

By Joseph Anthony A Chukka | Project Leader

Dear Friends and Supporters,

As we embrace the hope of New Year 2026, the team at BASS, India sends you our warmest greetings and heartfelt prayers.

We are writing to share a meaningful update on our daily meal program for vulnerable elderly people in Guntur—a project that has become a lifeline for those who have often been forgotten by society.

We are incredibly moved to share that, despite many challenges, the project has grown in its reach. We are now providing daily nutritious meals to 110 vulnerable elderly individuals across three dedicated centres in Guntur and Pallekona.

These centers have evolved into much more than mere feeding stations; they are sanctuaries of joy and community. Every day, our elders gather to share a hot meal, exchange stories, and find relief from the crushing weight of loneliness. For those who are bedridden or too frail to leave their homes, our committed staff ensures that no one goes hungry by delivering meals directly to their doorsteps.

Watching these men and women connect with their peers—laughing, talking, and finding a sense of belonging—is a testament to the power of human connection. To see them leave with a small portion of food for their evening meal, knowing they are cared for, is a blessing that your past support has made possible.

However, we must be honest about a significant hurdle we are currently facing.

While the program’s impact has expanded, our financial resources have reached a critical low. Between September and December 2025, we received only $114 in total donations.

To put this in perspective, it costs approximately $400 per month to keep just one center operational for 30 seniors. With three centers now serving 110 people, we are struggling to cover the essential costs of food supplies, kitchen staff salaries, and rent.

We find ourselves at a crossroads where the sustainability of these centers is at risk.

We urgently and humbly ask you to consider standing with us once again. Your contribution—whether a one-time gift or a monthly commitment—is vital to ensure these 110 elders continue to receive the nutrition and dignity they deserve.

Your kindness is a true light in the lives of the elderly in Guntur. Thank you for being a part of this journey of compassion.

With sincere gratitude,

The Team at BASS, India
