Dear Friends and Supporters,
Greetings from BASS! We’re excited to update you on our meal program for seniors in Guntur from January to May 2024.
Thanks to your constant support for over three years, we’ve been able to keep our program running strong. We’re truly thankful for your help.
Since 2020, we’ve been giving daily meals to 80 seniors in Guntur. They gather at our centres at 10 AM, enjoy each other’s company, and share meals that bring them joy.
We started this program during the COVID-19 lockdown to help seniors with tough life stories. It’s been a place of comfort and community for them, keeping them from loneliness and poor health.
Unfortunately, this quarter’s intense summer heat, with temperatures up to 42°C, has been hard on our seniors. They’ve been coming in earlier to eat by 11 AM and taking extra food home. We’ve also started giving them buttermilk and fruits to help them cope with the heat.
However, we’re facing a donation shortage. We’ve only received USD 164 this quarter, which isn’t enough to cover the rising food costs. We need at least USD 500 a month to keep one centre open for 50 seniors.
We’re reaching out for your continued generosity. Any donation or monthly pledge can make a huge difference for these seniors.
Thank you for your ongoing kindness and generosity.
With gratitude,
