Dear Friends and Supporters,
We are writing to you with a meaningful update on the daily meal program for vulnerable elderly people in Guntur. From May to August 2025, with your support, our program has continued to be a source of nourishment and community for the people we serve.
We are so happy to share that the project has grown! We now provide daily nutritious meals to 110 vulnerable elderly individuals across three centers in Guntur and Pallekona.
These centers are much more than just a place to eat; they are a space where our elders can gather, connect, and find joy. For those who are sick or unable to leave their homes, our dedicated staff delivers meals directly to their doorsteps.
This project began during the 2021 COVID lockdown, and year after year, we have been able to expand our reach, thanks to your incredible generosity.
The centers have become a vital part of the community, helping to alleviate loneliness and improve the overall well-being of our elders. We are blessed to see their happiness as they connect with their peers and share moments of their lives.
A Growing Need and a Critical Challenge
While we are celebrating the success and growth of the program, we are also facing a significant financial challenge.
Over the past four months, funding has been critically low, with only $493 received as of August 2025.
This amount is not enough to cover our increasing costs for food, essential staff salaries (cooks and helpers), and center rents. To put this into perspective, it costs at least $400 per month to keep just one center operational for 30 seniors. With three centers now serving 110 people, our monthly need is much higher.
How You Can Help
We urgently and humbly ask for your continued support. Your contribution is vital to ensure these vulnerable elders can continue to receive their daily meals, access a supportive community, and maintain their health and dignity.
We are deeply grateful for your ongoing kindness and compassion. Your support is a true blessing to the elderly in Guntur.
With sincere thanks,
The Team at BASS, India
