Summer update on the FSP

Very little has changed in our FSP ( Family Support Program, the working name for our program )  in recent months.  The FSP continues to face a critical funding need. As we had reported in March, some of our loyal small donors are retired and cannot afford to continue their support.

  • Although headline inflation in the US remains steady, worries over the political impact of policy changes on future inflation has caused a general cutback in donations.
  • Relevance: this means that scarce donor dollars are frequently  directed toward local or disaster projects.
  • Job loss and early retirement of donors has impacted donations

Our FSP has, for 25 years, provided compassionate care to fragile families impacted by HIV status and extreme poverty. For over 10 years, as Cambodia's economy has improved, we have worked tirelessly to "place" individual participants with family members if at all possible. We now support 24 legacy participants: 7 children and 17 adults, of whom 4 are elderly,  age 75-85. Most, if not all, of our participants without our support, would be homeless. Most of our remaining participants are legacies of participants who have passed away, leaving fragile  or elderly family members with no means of support. Our support was often most of  the support for the entire family as those remaining family members either themselves had a serious medical  impairment or were elderly and unable to work.

Our monthly funding need is estimated at $2600 to support 24 participants

How we use your donations

All donations are used only for direct  program expenses and to supervise the participants. . Mark and I do not, nor have we ever, received any salary. There are no offiice expenses and we personally pay for things like subscription costs like Constant Contact to create Kasumisou Foundation newsletters. We are very careful with your funds and we feel strongly that it is our duty to safeguard against any potential  loss of funds.

July 16 is a GlobalGiving Bonus Match Day

There will be a proportional match will be added to donations of $100 to $ 1000 on July 16. GlobalGiving has set aside  $125,000 for this campaign.

We are hopeful that you will consider joining us on July 16 to  give your donation dollar an added boost!

We are deeply grateful to you , our donors, for your continued support.
