Dear Cherish Donor!
Songtaba brings you greeting from Ghana and is happy share with you update on work in addressing violence agisnt women acuused of witchcraft. During the period under review Songtaba continued with our advocacy to ensure that better systems are put in place to protect many more women of being accused and banished to live in camps while also working to reintegrate the existing women currently at the camp.
With the support of other partners organisations, Songtaba conducted a study in the last quater of 2022 to determine the prevalence of depression among these accused women living in the alleged witches camps which reveal a significant number of the women suffering various levels of depression. This report has been used to widely engage duty bearers and development agencies to support to implement the recommendations to address the challenges.
Songtaba is supper excited to report that the funds that have been mobilised from your generous donation was used to re-ingtrate Fuseina two years ago and leaving with her blind son and after her re-ingration was successful, she made a request to be supported with a toilet facility in her house since there was non and she had to be uisng nearby house facility or sometime go into the woods which was dangerous.
It is sad however to report that Fuseina passed on last year, but since Songtaba pledged to construct the toilet facility for her and also considering the situation of the blind son and how useful this facility will be for the household, the donations received this period was used to construst a small bio digestible toilet.
Andani is the name of the blind man and he could not hide his excitement when he recieved the news about the preparation to build the facility and up till the completion. He asked Songtaba to extend their heart felicitation for the support from the re-integration of the mother to the construction of this WASH facility which will relief them of the difficulty of accessing such facility especially raining season.
Thank you for your time in reading our report and we hope you are excited too with the impact your constribution is makiong in the lives of vulnerable people.
