Cheuding village of Rapti Municipality-13 in Chitwan District, central Nepal, is home to the indigenous Chepang community. The village faces multiple development challenges, one of the most critical being the lack of access to electricity. Due to the rugged geographical terrain, the national electricity grid has not yet been extended to this remote settlement, affecting daily life, education, and household activities.
To address these challenges, ECCA mobilized local women and supported the formation of a women group to strengthen community participation and economic resilience. The group members received various livelihood development trainings aimed at enhancing skills and income-generating opportunities. In addition, ECCA distributed solar photovoltaic lamps to all 25 members of the Chakradevi Krishak Women Group. Prior to distribution, a basic orientation was conducted to ensure proper and safe use of the solar lamps.
The introduction of solar lighting has brought visible improvements to the daily lives of the women and their families. According to the women group chairperson, Ms. Sharmila, the solar lamps have made household work easier and safer, replacing the use of kerosene lamps that previously caused health risks and limited working hours after sunset.
ECCA sincerely appreciates your continued support. Your contribution plays a vital role in improving access to basic services and enhancing the living standards of marginalized rural communities.
