On August 26, 2026, Nepal experienced massive floods that severely affected many communities, particularly in Rasuwa and Nuwakot Districts. The devastating situation resulted in more than 1400 loss of lives, around 5300 people reported missing, displacement of families, extensive damage to homes and community infrastructure, and disruption of essential services. Many families have been forced to seek temporary shelter in safer locations. The damage to the electricity power supply line has become an additional challenge, especially during the night.
In response to this situation, ECCA provided portable solar lights to flood-affected households and community centers in areas where electricity services have been interrupted. Solar lights served as an immediate source of lighting for families while regular electricity services remain unavailable. This support has made everyday activities easier and has provided better visibility and safety during night time. It has made a meaningful difference in their living conditions.
We sincerely appreciate your continued support that makes it possible for ECCA to extend assistance to families affected by the flood and contribute to safer and more secure living conditions during this difficult time.
