Animal Welfare Education in Romania

Romania Animal Rescue has been extremely busy with Veterinary Education this season.   Vets from throughout Romania and the world are attending the Veterinary Training Camp, held at Center of Hope Hospital near Bucharest.  Training more vets on highly skilled, high volume spay/neuter techniques using spay hooks and teaching flank spays for nursing mamas is vital so that more vets are able to go back to their communities and help more animals.

Romania Animal Rescue sponsors the cost of training vets from Romania.  This testimonial is from Stefania, a recent attendee:

Aurelian had asked that I pass on notes on my experience to your organization.I wanted to share that I had a very enjoyable experience working with Center of Hope / Romanian Animal Rescue. I had found out about the organization through a Facebook group, Veterinary Volunteer Missions Abroad, and while the reviews were all very positive, I didn't know what to expect. However the team was incredibly kind and welcoming, and oriented me very quickly. I spent my two weeks performing spay/neuter surgeries, and also helping train the students who were there for a weeklong training camp. In this report we would like to show you just a few of the ways Romania Animal Rescue reaches out to help educate the public on animal welfare.  While our incredible outreach for spay and neuter (now approaching 130,000 animals) is a tremendous education opportunity to meet with people and their animals, we have been active in other ways......

Dr. Luka (from Montenegro) and Dr. Stefania (from Cluj Romania) attended the Veterinary Training Camp at Center of Hope to learn highly skilled sterilization procedures.  Scholarships were provided for this week long course by Romania Animal Rescue.  By training more vets, more animals can be helped in their communities and stop the burden of endless offspring.  Our training team provides training to veterinarians from all over the globe year-round at Center of Hope hospital Romania.   Romania Animal Rescue provides scholarships for training to Romanian and other Eastern European vets as funding allows. 

Veterinary Director Dr. Aurelian Stefan (Dr. A) is a speaker at youth seminars in Bucharest with hands on training for the children to better understand how to help their best friends stay healthy with vaccines, nutritious food, microchips, parasite protection, and leash training.  It all comes down to this:  if no one teaches these children, they will repeat the mistakes of the elders who have for generations not understood all that animal well-being entails.  We are setting the standards and stressing the importance of lifetime animal care.

There was also an outdoor event in Bucharest and we were there with our volunteers and Dr. A, who taught children how to listen to a dog's heart through a stethoscope.  Our marvelous Veterinary Director Dr. A also took turns face painting the kids!  A great event that was very well attended, all for the animals!
