Armath Engineering Makerspaces: Innovation in Action. Progress and Impact Report 2024

Since its inception in 2011, the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE) has been driving the transformative Armath Engineering Makerspaces program. This initiative has steadily grown into a cornerstone of STEM education, striving to expand access to engineering labs, foster technical innovation, and build a connected global community of young learners. Today, Armath makerspaces operate not only across Armenia but also in countries such as the USA, France, Kuwait, India, Eswatini, Bangladesh, and Georgia—an inspiring testament to the global appeal of Armenia’s educational model.

2024 Achievements: Empowering Students and Communities

Student Engagement:
In 2024, over 17,000 students are actively engaged with Armath makerspaces worldwide. Through these labs, they are exploring engineering, programming, and robotics, preparing themselves for careers that demand innovation and creativity.

Real-World Learning:
Integrating makerspaces into schools has provided students with hands-on experience, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. This approach helps shape informed career choices, allowing students to envision futures as engineers, technologists, and creators.

Skill Building and Competitions:
Armath students continue to excel in robotics, programming, and engineering design. This year, they actively participated in notable competitions, including: DigiCode, Koreez-Armath competition and also

  • ArmRobotics 2024, where students showcased their autonomus robotics projects in the topic of Emergency situations.
  • DigiTec Expo 2024, where students displayed their projects, gaining exposure to industry leaders and tech enthusiasts.

These platforms not only highlight the incredible talent fostered by Armath but also connect students with real-world opportunities and mentors.

Fostering Collaboration and Innovation:
The 2024 Armath Camp brought together over 100 students, coaches, and tech professionals for an immersive experience. Participants honed practical skills in robotics, software development, and engineering while networking with peers and experts. These camps foster not only technical expertise but also the creativity and confidence essential for future innovators.

Expanding Reach and Impact

Growth of Makerspaces:
With the support of communities and donors, the Armath program continues to launch new makerspaces, bringing opportunities to underserved areas. A recent fundraising campaign saw 52% of the target achieved across eight active campaigns, with nine surpassing their goals with the engagement of local community efforts.

Empowering Coaches:
Armath’s success hinges on its dedicated coaches. Through specialized workshops and training sessions, these educators continually refine their skills, ensuring they stay ahead of industry trends and deliver the highest-quality education to their students.

Looking Ahead: Building the Future

The Armath Engineering Makerspaces program continues to shape the next generation of problem-solvers, engineers, and entrepreneurs. By equipping students with skills and fostering their creativity, Armath is laying the foundation for a brighter, more innovative future.

As we move forward, our mission is clear: to expand the reach of this transformative program, ensure every student has access to quality STEM education. Together, we are making a lasting impact—one student, one makerspace, one community at a time.
