Challenge

UNHCR reports state that there are 950,334 Syrian refuges in Lebanon by the end of 2018 located across Lebanon. According to UNHCR reports, Syrian refugees are living in shelters that are under the appropriate living line, 34% of the families live in temporary household units, which sets an increase from 26% from 2017. places in Arsal area get up to 1m of snow and temperatures that drop to -7C the situation is increasingly desperate.

Solution

This project will enable URDA to identify gaps in the needs currently being provided to the refugees, and fulfill them. This will be done on two levels: 1) Direct relief aid - food, clothes, plastic sheets, and heat. 2) Long-term capacity-building for local governance and organizations active on the ground.

Long-Term Impact

Norma storm attacked Lebanon on the 5th of January, and now its expected that another storm called "Miriam" will strike with harsher consequences. Many efforts have been joined to support this initiative and till now URDA has provided basic needs to over 2000 families. However, there still is a very big gap in services and need to aid 700 families. The long-term impact will be in the improved services and general quality of living offered by the camp officials and supporting organizations.
